Sunstein Welcomes Patent Attorney Michele Liu Baillie as Of Counsel

BOSTON (Oct. 31, 2022) – Sunstein LLP is pleased to announce that Michele Liu Baillie has joined the firm as Of Counsel, and a member of the patent group. With more than 25 years of experience, Michele focuses her practice on the preparation and prosecution of utility and design patents, patentability analyses, product clearances, and trademark prosecution.

“We are thrilled to welcome Michele, who is a skilled and accomplished patent attorney and former head of her own IP firm,” said Patent Group Chair, Kathryn E. Noll. “Michele brings extensive knowledge and relationships that she’s gained through her involvement in the New England legal and business communities. Michele has worked with many Fortune 500 and mid-sized companies, startups, and individual inventors in the United States, including Silicon Valley and New England, as well as abroad. Her practice includes foreign patent filing strategy and portfolio management.

As a leader in the legal and broader business communities, Michele currently serves as secretary of The Boston Club, a premier organization of senior professional women. Previously, she served for nine years on the board of the Women's Bar Association of Massachusetts (WBA), including as the organization’s president from 2017 to 2018 and currently as a member of the WBA Emeritus Board. Michele also is a member of the Boston Bar Association, American Intellectual Property Law Association, and Asian American Lawyers Association of Massachusetts.

Michele received her J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law and a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts both from the University of Texas at Austin. Outside of the office, Michele enjoys creating pottery and is a passionate animal lover.
