Sunstein Welcomes Attorneys Jacki Salwa and Ian Mahany-Horton

Sunstein LLP is pleased to announce that Ian Mahany-Horton and Jackie Salwa have joined the firm – Ian as a member of the Patent Practice Group and Jackie as a member of the Litigation and Trademark practice groups. Both Ian and Jackie were summer associates with Sunstein during law school.

"We are so happy to have these talented and sharp attorneys join as the newest members of our team,” said Sharona H. Sternberg, who leads the firm’s Summer Associate Program. “We believe that associate satisfaction depends on finding the right fit. We’re thrilled that Ian and Jackie completed our program with a positive view of what it means to work at Sunstein and look forward to watching them grow in their new roles.”

Ian handles complex intellectual property matters, with a specific focus on patent prosecution across a range of industries in the mechanical, electrical, and software fields. Before joining Sunstein, Ian handled patent prosecution matters at Philips and served as a systems engineer at Sikorsky, drafting and maintaining technical documents for helicopter parts. He earned his J.D. from Boston University School of Law and his B.S. from the University of Connecticut.

Jackie handles intellectual property litigation and trademark matters, working on behalf of her clients to enforce their IP rights and protect their brands. Before joining Sunstein, she served as a legal intern at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York and a paralegal for a trial law firm in New York City. Jackie earned her J.D. from Harvard Law School and her B.A., magna cum laude, from Boston University.

Sunstein’s 10-week Summer Associate Program provides law students with valuable training, meaningful assignments, and a realistic view of life and work at the firm. In addition to being paired with a partner or senior associate to serve as a mentor throughout the course of the program, summer associates receive immediate training in the firm’s approach to the practice of law, including workshops on advocacy, legal writing, and legal research. They are also encouraged to join Sunstein attorneys who devote time to pro-bono assignments as well as to participate in other community initiatives and client development projects.
